Abstract. In this article, importance is given to the understandable explanation of the issues related to the equations of mathematical physics. Theoretical information on classification of equations is described and examples of classification are shown. The formulation of the Cauchy problem for the narrow oscillation equation is shown, and the stability of the solution of the problem is proved. Ways to explain to students the incorrect formulation of the Dirichlet problem for the hyperbolic type equation are explained in a convenient way. Several examples are recommended for independent work.
