Abstract. The classification of higher and second-order mathematical physics equations is fully described in the article. The initial and boundary problems for hyperbolic type equations with specific derivatives are analyzed. Cauchy, Darbou, and Gursa problems for hyperbolic type equations are given systematically. Several typical-looking problems are solved.
