The article analyzes the ways of connecting sentences in complex sentences with subordinate clause of time, including complex sentences expressing the meanings of succession, the event presented in the main body, following by the event indicated in the subordinate clause. Information is given on the key types of communication on the meaning of succession with the help of conjunctions, the main semantic components of which are the meanings of simultaneity and diversity (sequence) about situational coincidences, in the main body of a complex sentence for time, about a particular nature, specifying the main temporary sign, an indication of the complete or partial coincidence in time, for the absence or presence of an interval and its duration, for a limiting moment, interruption, regularity, anticipation, premature, unexpectedness, values that can be expressed by the semantics of the conjunction or refined using specifiers connected to the conjunction. Examples from the works of the Russian writer were used as materials for the study.
