Abstract. Polysemy and a similar lexical phenomenon - homonymy are one of the topics that have attracted the attention of researchers and linguists as important parts of lexicology. This article discusses the specific characteristics, similarities and differences of the phenomena of homonymy and polysemy, as well as the issue of their use in field terminology
