Abstract. Currently, the depletion of mineral resources and the continuous increase in their production capacity of processing enterprises and the demand for commercial products leads to increasing volumes of pollution (tailings, sludge, slag, etc.) of the natural environment and environmental requirements are increasingly involved in circulation secondary techno genic sources of minerals. Iron is the most important element for the development of human civilization. Iron-based materials are used in almost all areas of industry. The largest volume of iron-containing waste is tailings from concentration factories, which contain large amounts of magnetite, hematite, fayalite, bornite, tetrahedrite from copper concentration factories. Currently existing methods and technological schemes for processing iron-containing tailings and waste are faced with the problem of low economic efficiency, the degree of extraction of iron and other valuable associated elements.

Keywords: tailings, sludge, slag, magnetite, Fe3O4, enrichment, flotation, iron-containing waste.
