Abstract. The article discusses the issues of pedagogical knowledge of teachers, which form the main components of professional competence, individual psychological characteristics, professional beliefs, work-related motivation and self-regulation as aspects of their professional competence. It also revealed the need to form indicators of professional orientation among students on the basis of differential differences in the manifestation of communicative, intellectual, emotional, regulatory characteristics, based on the presence of differences in the qualification category in the development of professional competence among public education employees, some suggestions and considerations for the development of professional competence are given.
