Abstract. Features of reading as a speech activity make it a very effective learning tool. Its positive role in the assimilation of language material is significant: the mnemonic activity that accompanies the reading process ensures that students memorize the learned and new units of the language. Therefore, at advanced stages of learning, reading texts is one of the means of expanding vocabulary.
