Abstract. The article talks about the importance of "Oguznoma" in the history of the artistic thinking of our nation and the progress of development. In the study of ancient Turkish written literature, it was noted that the study of the genezis of the work, the writing process, the system of characters, and artistic features are specific directions. The role of the epic in the history of our ancient Turkish written literature and the literary-scientific views of the scholars who appraised its artistic value were discussed.
