Abstract. Consistent development of the system of continuous education is defined by the state as a strategic priority. Today, in the field of higher education, much attention is paid to strengthening the material and technical base of educational institutions and research potential, improving the qualifications of the teaching staff, improving the content and essence of higher education. Physical and astronomical education in the system of continuous education is an integral part of the pedagogical process and serves to educate a person in accordance with the general goals of education. This article is devoted to the place of astronomy in the system of continuous education in our country.
