Abstract. Kinins are polypeptides formed from α2-globulins in blood plasma under the influence of the kallikrein enzyme (kallikrein-kinin system). The best known of these are bradykinin and kallidin. Bradykinin, as a member of the kinin protein group, is a physiologically and pharmacologically active peptide with vasodilating properties. Due to its specific action, blood vessels dilate and blood pressure drops. It is important to note that his actions are local in nature. This feature of the peptide is currently widely used in pharmacology for the treatment and prevention of heart failure and arterial hypertension.

Keywords: bradykinin, bradykinin storm, kinins, vasodilator, hypotension.
