Abstract. The desire to comprehend the subject of the ethnographic science of Uzbekistan from the perspective of understanding the system of its development and functioning is determined by the following points. Human figures, architectural fragments, weapons, various signs and emblems can also be used as ornamental motifs. A special kind of ornament (for example, girih) is represented by stylized inscriptions on architectural structures or in books. The ornament is understood as a universal symbolic form of fine art, interconnected with the entire mythological complex, characterized by a special conditional way of reflecting both sensual and imaginary data, directly dependent on the way of life and economy, and at the same time as an independent system, united by the nature of functioning and the method of modeling the surrounding world.
