Abstract. This article focuses on the issue of cognitive ability development in students studying in higher education institutions. Among other things, it provides the reader with some opinions as a result of studying the researches of world scientists on this topic. The article can be used by specialists in the field of pedagogy and psychology, students studying in this field, and independent researchers.
