Abstract. Vinyl chloride, CH2=CHCl — monochloroethylene, colorless gas. Molar mass 62.50; boiling point — 13.8°, melting point — 158.4°, density 983 kg/m3 (at 15°). Well soluble in chloroform, dichloroethane and ether, poorly soluble in water. Vinyl chloride is obtained by withdrawing one molecule of hydrogen halide from dihalide derivatives and attaching one molecule of hydrogen halide to acetylene hydrocarbons. Vinyl chloride is mainly used as a raw material in the production of polyvinyl chloride, various copolymers, vinylidene chloride and methyl chloroform.

Keywords: Vinyl chloride, PVC, polymerization, (EDC, VCM monomer, diene and polyene, acetylene method, combined method, suspension polymerization.
