Abstract. In this article, using the example of students in grades 5-9, the use of the methodology for the development of critical thinking, which is one of the ways to develop the thinking of students in computer science lessons, is considered. In addition, the history of the technology for the development of critical thinking, its purpose, requirements for students and teachers, J. Dewey's opinion and the impact of this technology on students are covered.
