In linguistics, the doctrine of mode, being a reflection of the principle of musical thinking and the peculiarities of the language of a certain historical period, occupies an important place. Also, the knowledge of the mode allows you to analyze and find confirmation of the further development of music theory, in particular on the issues of fret and tonality. Thus, this article makes a historical, methodological and theoretical analysis of the stages of development and existence of the mode, as a rhythmic, melodic, as well as semantic formula at different stages of development and in the conditions of other cultures.
